Greetings all,
Don Kibbe from the RC group told me about a couple of shows that aired on Wednesday which I forgot to tell you about. I apologize for not getting the word out. The good news is that you can view them at the PBS Passport if you are a member or you can view the recent Yamato release here though this link
PBS Yamato
The second was on German Navy in WWII but I can't get that one without joining RMPBS Passport. If you're a member go give it a look. There are also other free videos of interest available to view from their web site.

It was good to see everybody on Saturday. Thanks for attending!
First a couple of announcements...
Reminder that we are moving to the first Monday of the month beginning with Saturday, May 5th. Same location and time.
also...
Hugh may need to find a new home for his model shop. Colpar may be booting Hugh out. It's not cast in resin? But he'll know in a couple of weeks. Hugh asked if anyone knows of a low cost location where he could move his shop if necessary. Tough in today's market but if anyone has any ideas please let Hugh know.
Another meeting with lots of interesting stuff...
I delivered a review of Revell Germany's 1/72 PT-109. I brought my out of the box old school kit as a comparison. I thought the feedback about the interiors was interesting. I'm curious to see how it builds up. You can see a complete review at this site.
Revell Germany PT-109
Brian shared with us his 1/350 3D printed model equipment set including the Tilly. It took a few attempts for Shapeways to get the Tilly crane section. That's something I know several of us have struggled with at Shapeways.
John shared with us some more 3D printed 1/700 ships. These are unique subjects that we may never see kits on. They possess remarkable detail. Also included were some box cars which looked very nice.
John brought his Flyhawk 1/700 HMS Hermes. I think we were all amazed with the photo etch wing struts on the bi-planes covering the deck. John warned us on how fragile the crane was on this kit. She's not quite finished and I'm hoping John brings the finished version back for a visit.

The Beasley effect kicked in when Jerry brought shared with us some glue paddles he purchased from upstairs. Here's a video of the Rockler Glue Paddles.
Jerry also brought sanding swabs which are very handy. Another great find was the sponge sanding blocks 1000, 1500 and 2000 grit.
Something that could be very handy for washing small parts in an ultrasonic cleaner is the team infuser.
Last Jerry found some great books from AK on Metallics as well as Flesh & Skin.

Ship club time already!
Meeting place:
rockler Woodworking (basement)
2553 S. Colorado Blvd., Suite 108
Denver, Colorado 80222
Date: 3/24/2018
I received the Revell Germany new tool 1/72 PT-109 and posted a review about the kit on the PT Boat Forum. I'm going to bring the kit and discuss the experience of posting a kit review.
Roger notified us that the Paul Allen's team has found the USS Juneau CL-52 and on St. Patrick's day. Significant because the Juneau is the final resting place of the five Sullivan brothers. Here's a video documenting the find. Listen to the conversation about the debris field.
This coming on the heels of finding the Lexington.
If you do a search on YouTube you'll find a lot of video on both finds.
I'm anxious to hear what you're all working on. With Easter coming on I'm busily working away on my annual egg ships. I probably won't have those ready until the following meeting but looking forward to showing them to you.
John DuGene is organizing a trip to Colorado Springs on April 28th to visit two aviation museums. From John "The Peterson AFB Museum: https://petemuseum.org, and the National Museum of WW2 Aviation: http://www.worldwariiaviation.org. Any and all are welcome to join in - family, friends, etc. The intent is to be at Peterson about when they open at 9am, break for lunch, then head over to the WW2 Museum for the afternoon. I'm coordinating with Peterson for base entry; the museum is free, and again for the WW2 museum. As well, when we get closer, I'll try to get folks together for car pools. It's another "save-the-date" notice but with a definite program in mind. Feel free to contact me if anyone is interested and I'll stay in touch on the arrangements."
This sounds like a great opportunity and trip! If you're interested please reach out to John.
As always please bring....
Your questions
Your new acquisitions of kits and tools
Your finished models
Looking forward to seeing you all

Somehow I lost my photo for one of the kits that Bill brought to our meeting.
TLAR Models Kit No. 617, Vietnam era gunboat. TLAR puts out a number of small 1/700 resin kits with very unique subjects. Notice their tag line "The Esoteric from the Eccentric". I'm curious to see how Bill gets on with this one.

Update from last meeting. I completely forgot to post the kits that Bill Smallshaw brought to the meeting! One of them I thought I took a picture of but somehow I lost it. Bill if you could send me the information about that one I'll add it to this post.
This one from Dodo Models is a real gem!
Dodo Models produces 1/700 scale subjects. Here is their facebook page link to this kit. It's not shown on their web site but that's not unusual these days. This is a very unusual and interesting subject. Thanks for sharing this one Bill!

Another fun meeting and we covered a lot of territory once again...
I started off with a discussion about moving the meeting dates to the first Saturday of the month. The feedback we received was that this would work out for everyone. Rockler told us the space is available but I'm waiting to hear from Rich at Rockler that it's a go. Our next meeting will definitely be March 24th. If we get the go from Rockler the meeting after that will be May 5th! Cinco de Mayo!
Sam next led off his final part of the Stewart in Japanese service, followed by her return to the US Navy. It was certainly a memorable voyage bringing her back to San Francisco.
Next Jerry talked about his new kit, Tiger Models CB-90. This is a much anticipated 1/35 kit. The prototype was built by Sweden but it is in service with many different countries. The fit and finish of the hull is remarkable. I'm anxious to see what Jerry does with this model. I can tell he's excited because he's starting to paint it tonight!
Next was the submarine tender Taigei and submarine. John also used the Aoshima detail set which really brings this to life. I was amazed at the wood deck for the Japanese submarine that came with the kit. Impressive since last meeting these were just parts in boxes!

Jerry also shared with us the loops he purchased a while back and how useful they are for seeing details in a comfortable position.
Jerry also shared with us a reamer tool that he purchased. Jerry's offered to put in an order for the club. If you're interested let Jerry know quickly! Excellent tool for learning out holes in plastic.
Next John discussed his three subjects! The first was the Grille. This was Hitlers yacht but later converted to wartime use as pictured here. John advised that this was a bear of a kit and very unlike most of Combrig's line of kits. But John managed to bring it to life and did a fine job of it.
Photo etch set and wood deck for this kit.
Next Victor amazed us with his 1/350 Trumpeter Graff Zeplin. It was strange to see German aircraft on this aircraft carrier that never happened.
Good times!

Jerry also is bringing his latest acquisition, a CB-90 from Tiger Model. The CB-90 is a fast assault special operations boat used by many countries including the US.
I made an investment for the club. I bought a TV stand and will be attaching my old Sony flat screen to it. I'm hoping to have it set up for Sam's presentation.
I received 4 more bottles of the Flexy 5K CA. This stuff just trickles in. Hopefully we'll have the final four bottles by the March meeting!
Final note, Colpar Hobby Town is having a swap meet Saturday as well from 10:00 to 14:00.
