A quick update for the meeting....

Sam is going to treat us to another historical presentation.  I think I know what it's about but I was wrong the last time.

Blake has been hard at work coming up with some artwork for Custom Ink.  This time for screen printing.  There are lots of opportunities to use this art work on everything from t-shirts, to sweatshirts, to hats.  Maybe even PJ's?  Who knows.  Pretty soon you'll have your entire wardrobe in Mile High Model Ship Club livery.  Here's Blake's work.

Think about the possibilities and we'll see you Saturday!

Location:  Rockler Woodworking in the basement
Address:  2553 S Colorado Blvd - Suite 108

I'll be giving a presentation on buying and selling on eBay.  I'm going to talk about my experience setting up a store and selling some items I've collected over the years.  Also I'll discuss my experience purchasing items on eBay.

I would like you all to bring your eBay buying and selling experiences to the meeting.  I just had a very interesting experience over the weekend as a seller that I'm going to share with you.

What else?

  • It's getting closer to IPMS National Convention.  Are you going?
  • How are we doing on our Pearl Harbor anniversary project?
  • Did you get anything new since the last meeting?
  • Any issues you have that we can put our heads together and help you with?
If anyone has anything that they would like to cover please reach out to me and let me know.

See you all Saturday!
Dave

Hi all,
Tonight I watched two videos about chipping effects and streaking effects presented at a hobby shop in Canada by Mig Jimenez this year.  While Mig is known for armor, the techniques he talks about are effective and can translate to ships, planes, vehicles, or whatever.  I recommend listening to what he has to say about finishing a model.  I found it very interesting and I hope you do as well...

I wish I could have made the meeting if only to see John's completed ships.

The first one was the Ting Pien class gunboat of 1935.  It some ways it looks like a modern gunboat.  Nicely done and photographed!

The second model was the Imperial Chinese Navy Torpedo Cruiser, Kuang Yi.  Not so modern looking but an interesting hull shape.

Thanks John for sharing.

I understand there was a spirited discussion about Windows 10.  Sorry to hear you're having problems but if you want no sympathy at all I can give you the number of our IS guy.  He's not a big fan either. Microsoft is taking a lot of heat for their stance on this release and support of their previous products.  All I can say is I'm happy with my MAC.  :-)
